A solo exhibition by Jane Barwood

28 November 2014 - 23 January 2015

Jane Barwood’s paintings explore the relationship between urban living and the natural landscape, emphasising the alienation and disconnection we often feel in our environment.  They frequently feature the house as a motif to describe the experience of existing within the landscape, yet feeling detached from it, not belonging and never feeling ‘at home’.

Jane uses colour, mark-making and composition to evoke meaning and atmosphere, creating a sense of unease and internal conflict that moves these paintings from tranquil landscapes to places filled with more complicated emotions.
