Platform Studios Open Day

Drop in anytime between 10am-4pm for a look around the artists studios, to buy original artworks and to talk to the artists.  Throughout the day there will be a range of activities for you to participate in.

11.00am: New York Violet
Find out about the artists that influence Jacqui Priestley as she introduces the work of The New York School through images, video and discussion.  She will focus on the white-on-white paintings of Robert Ryman and include a demonstration of his optical violet technique.

12.00pm: Musical masterpieces
Karen Thompson will be creating artworks that respond to music using a variety of media.  Visitors are welcome to participate as both artists and musicians.

1.00pm: Moulding expression
Newest studio member Matty Hodges will share how he uses mod-roc plaster bandages in the creation of his sculptural artworks.

2.00pm: Objects and meaning
Bring your camera or phone to create beautiful still life artworks in Angela Wilkinson's Photography studio where you can combine fine art, objects and digital technology.

All day: Finding ways
Claire Weetman's studio will be transformed into an installation featuring a selection of prints and drawings and her 2016 film work 'a maquette for a maze of displacement'.

All day: Radiant resin paintings
Visit Paul Reynolds’ studio to view his latest series of paintings and to see his work using epoxy-resins and paint to create glossy, colour-filled canvases.


Access to Platform studios is through St Mary's Market, follow our blackboard signs on the day.  Platform studios are accessed by 38 stairs and we regret that we do not have disabled access.  If you would like to discuss alternative access arrangements, please contact us.
